BARKING POWER STATION - CHIMNEY COLLAPSE
Monitoring the Vibration during Chimney Collapse
at Barking Power Station
Vibration Monitoring Services was asked by DDM Dismantling Ltd to set up vibration equipment early one cold Sunday morning to monitor the vibration levels generated during the collapse of two chimneys at the old Barking Power Station. Profound Vibra+ monitors were sited at four locations around the site and recorded the vibration levels generated as the chimneys came down.
The collapse went without a hitch and the vibration generated was acceptable around the site with the highest level recorded at 12.36mm/s at 2Hz.
