NOISE MONITORING

Noise monitoring is becoming increasingly common to monitor the noise levels being generated during demolition, piling, construction, and heavy vehicle movement on sites.

The monitoring of noise is frequently requested by the Local Authorities before works can commence on site, to establish the baseline levels, long term noise monitoring can then be required for the duration of the project. We have a huge and well-supported hire fleet of well-maintained modern monitoring systems.

Our Monitoring Services

Over the years we have built up a reputation for the quality of our monitoring services, providing convenient and cost-effective service throughout the monitoring period. We take great pride in this reputation so strive to ensure each of our clients receives the same level of service as the last.

Key Features:

  • Class 1 Sound Level Meters
  • Continuous Long-Term or Short-Term Monitoring
  • A dedicated Project Manager monitoring the levels on your site
  • Liaison with site manager via Phone Call/Text Messages/Emails
  • High quality cloud-based platform
  • Text & Email alert alarms will be provided
  • Flexible site visits, to suit the contractor
  • Detailed reporting is provided every week of monitoring
  • Working within the Local Authorities' specification
  • Baseline Monitoring
  • Powered by 110V/240V Power Supply or Lithium-Ion Battery Packs

Our Project Managers set alarm trigger levels inside the sound level meters as per your specifications, alerts can be viewed online from the Class 1 noise meters. When alerts are received your Site Manager will immediately receive communication either by text message, email, or from our Project Managers, depending on your requirements.

Our noise meters can operate on 110V/240V electrical power supply or use battery packs for remote applications if required.

We use Tracer Lithium-Ion 12V rechargeable battery packs to run our Sonitus EM2030 monitoring systems for 18+ days of battery life, these battery packs are an excellent option for them remote sites. These batteries come in a robust IP67 weather-resistant Peli case with a battery meter that shows the remaining charge.

The EM2030 is a fully automated, remote sound level monitoring system ideal for the construction industry.  Designed for simple operation and reliability in tough environments.  The sound level meter is a rugged measurement unit with, a weatherproof outdoor microphone.  It is supported by a powerful online analysis and reporting system which lets you access your sound level readings from anywhere.

Hassle-Free Remote Environmental Monitoring

Environmental monitoring with the help of dust, noise, and vibration sensors is crucial for ensuring the safety and well-being of workers and the community living near construction sites. By proactively monitoring and addressing environmental concerns, construction companies can minimize any negative impacts and maintain a healthy and sustainable working environment.

Overall, monitoring noise helps ensure that construction projects are carried out sustainably and responsibly, minimizing harm to the environment and enhancing the overall quality of life for the community. It also helps companies maintain a positive reputation and avoid potential legal issues related to environmental compliance.

Current Legislation for Environmental Noise Monitoring

National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF)

BS 5228 ‘Noise & Vibration Control on Construction & Open Sites’ – (Control noise on construction and open sites with significant noise levels arising from work activities/operations).  This gives recommendations for basic methods of noise control relating to construction sites, including sites where demolition, remediation, ground treatment, or related civil engineering works are being carried out and open sites, where work activities/operations generate significant noise levels, including industry-specific guidance.

BS 4142:1997 ‘Method for Rating Industrial Noise Affecting Mixed Residential and Industrial Areas’ - (Determining noise levels at the outside of a building: Factories, or industrial premises and or fixed installations, or sources of an industrial nature in commercial premises; and background noise level)

Noise Policy Statement for England (NPSE) – Noise Policy Vision: Promote good health and good quality of life through the effective management of noise within the context of Government policy on sustainable development.

Section 61 The Control of Pollution Act 1974 - Control of Construction Noise & Vibration.
