News: Aberdeen Market Project – Morrison Construction

Vibration Monitoring Complete

Morrison Construction is the main contractor overseeing the £40m redevelopment of the iconic Aberdeen Market, a significant undertaking that is integral to the broader city centre regeneration plans.

The market development will create a vibrant and exciting new destination for people to visit in the city centre, as well as create an improved connection between Union Street, The Green, and the bus and train stations.

To ensure the success of the project and maintain the integrity of nearby structures, Vibration Monitoring Services were employed to conduct vibration monitoring during the demolition phase. This crucial step was taken to protect the surrounding buildings from potential disturbances caused by the construction activities.

By meticulously tracking vibrations, the team was able to mitigate risks and ensure that the project proceeded smoothly while safeguarding the structural integrity of neighbouring properties.

Customer Feedback:

“Thanks for providing these monitors over the recent weeks and months. They have been very easy to use and set up etc plus the weekly reports have been useful in fending off any complaints etc and just ensuring we have been compliant the whole time."

"The monitors served their purpose well and at one stage allowed us to carefully monitor some tricky demolition operations as it was getting close to permissible levels of vibration on the adjoining buildings, but we managed to get the works completed relatively easily with just a little bit of extra care and attention which we may not have managed without the monitors."

"All in all the service has been great and I'd be happy to use it again on other projects plus I’ve already recommended you to some of our other managers when the topic came up.”
