Case Study: Noise, Dust & Vibration Monitoring during Demolition of Retail Building in Wapping, London

VMS had the pleasure of working alongside a long standing valued Client during the demolition of a three-story showroom in Wapping, London.

The retail property covered 42,548 square foot and was previously used for a Volkswagen Dealership.

Noise, dust & vibration monitoring was carried out for 3 months to ensure the neighbouring residents and commercial buildings were not affected during the demolition works. This helped to reduce any high vibration levels from affecting the neighbouring properties by keeping key personnel well informed with real-time monitoring alerts.

Vibration monitors were at the rear of the plot to closely monitor the Grade II warehouse.

Together with vibration monitoring, dust and noise levels were also monitored to keep them at a minimum, to reduce levels which would affect neighbouring properties.

The Big Yellow Group has acquired the site in order to extend its current site adjacent to 132,000 square feet of self-storage and 114 residential flats. The construction project is expected to cost approximately 36 million.
